Weddings

At Christ Church we love weddings. We are fortunate to have a beautiful church in a glorious setting. No wonder then that it is a popular wedding venue!

Most of the couples we marry have an existing connection with the village of Chorleywood, however each year there are couples who choose to host their reception at a nearby venue (Micklefield Hall for example) and wish to hold their marriage service in church. The Church of England site https://www.churchofengland.org/life-events/your-church-wedding can help you understand the requirements for a church wedding. As a busy church sharing a community car park we do not conduct weddings on a Sunday, or weekdays in term time.

We will do everything possible to make sure your wedding is personal and just right for you. We can provide an organist, or on request a modern worship band, equally we are delighted to have visiting choirs, gospel singers or (almost) anything similar to make it your perfect start to married life.

Planning a wedding in church takes most of us into unfamiliar territory so, as a first step, do contact our church office on at weddings@cccw.org.uk

funerals

The funeral of a loved one acknowledges the closing of a human life on earth. A funeral service is an opportunity for family and friends to gather in church or a crematorium to express their grief, to give thanks to God and celebrate the completed journey of an earthly life, and to commend the departed into God’s eternal keeping.

A funeral service conducted by a Church of England minister can be very short and quiet with only a few members of a family present, an occasion of great solemnity, with music or hymns. Or it can be a time of joyous thanksgiving with an overflowing church. Or anything in between.

We can provide audio visual services, including showing film clips and pictures during the service, and livestream the service to those who cannot attend in person. We can also host refreshments after the service subject to availability of the hall and external caterers.

Whatever the pattern of service, the words and actions all speak of a loving God and the preciousness to him of every human being.
