Jesus takes control of the situation – Matthew 8:14-17
A. He saw
14 “And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, he saw his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.
Question 1: What are the problems associated with the illness of Peter’s mother-in-law?
Question 2: What are the challenges associated with the concept that God sees everything in our lives?
B. He touched
15 He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve him.
Question 3: Note the implied tender graciousness of how Jesus deals with the sick lady. Do you feel God has been gracious and kind in his dealings with you?
Question 4: Have you felt called to serve God in a new way, following healing and restoration?
Question 5: How do you react to the thought that our Christian service is primarily for Christ not others?
C. He conquered
16 That evening they brought to him many who were oppressed by demons, and he cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. 17 This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”
