Wanted: Three Ministry Trainees

Might God be calling you to serve Him in Children’s, Youth or Worship Ministry?
Come and join our Paid Ministry Trainee programme

What Is A Ministry Trainee?

It’s aimed at being one of, or the final step before heading into full-time employment in ministry. At the Christ Church Ministry Trainee Programme we want to ‘Train young adults to love God and people long-term in ministry’. We do this by providing an environment where young adults are trained and invested in by experienced leaders, whilst also given responsibility and the opportunity to exercise leadership in a supportive environment.

We have three positions available:

Trainee Assistant Youth Minister: line-managed by Simon Tulett the Youth Minister for our ministry to 10 – 14 year olds, REAL.

Trainee Assistant Youth & Worship Minister: line-managed by Ben Holbrook, our Worship Minister and 15 – 18’s Youth Minister.

Trainee Assistant Children’s Minister: line-managed by Brianna Ricciardo, our Children’s Minister.

How will we invest in you?

Responsibility

Under the guidance and mentoring of our permanent staff, we will get you taking responsibility in your chosen ministry sector here at Christ Church and doing so as a fully functioning member of the staff team in the role of ‘Trainee Assistant Youth / Children’s / Worship Minister’.

Development of responsibility

At the end of the year there is the option of applying for a second year here at the church that carries with it extended responsibilities as well as a progression in job title, from ‘Trainee Assistant . . . . . Minister’ to ‘Assistant . . . . . Minister’. The change in title reflects the increased responsibility that we hope will benefit your growth as well as your CV as you begin looking for a permanent ministry position.

Ministry Mentoring

Our Youth, Children’s, or Worship Minister will work with you one to one, mentoring and training you in the skills you’ll need to serve Jesus and love people as a great ministry leader.

Life Mentoring

We will match you up with a mentor from our congregation to invest in you as a person. Spending time with you, praying with you, helping you grow into the person God made you to be.

Training Days

We’ll be taking regular time out to look at the key skills that we need to learn to serve God in ministry. This will be a combination of leadership skills as well as the life practices we need to build in order to thrive in ministry for the long haul.

London School of Theology

As part of your training you will get the opportunity to join the students at the internationally recognised London School of Theology (LST) one morning a week. This will be on a Tuesday morning where you will join one of their popular one-year short courses whilst also spending time with the rest of the student body for chapel and lunch afterwards. LST is based in Northwood, and therefore travel is very easy by car or on the Metropolitan Tube line.

Whole Church Ministry

We believe that gaining experience and understanding of the wide range of ministries that a church runs is important for being a great church leader. We will be taking the occasional days out each term to give you experience with other ministries, as well as talking to those who lead them, so you can understand the different challenges other members of your team face.

Yearly Retreat

We take time away once a year at the half-way mark of our programme, spend some time together as a team, evaluate goals for the year, and have some fun too!
