Children’s Ministry Update

We are so pleased to be back in person with both our midweek after school clubs and a weekly gathering on a Sunday morning alongside the outdoor service. All our groups are run in accordance with Government COVID-19 Guidance, as well as following the advice published by the National Youth Agency. We cannot wait to see you all again in person very soon, see below for information on the programmes we are currently running, as well as information about Detonate!!

Lighthouse is our after school club for those in years 1-3 – this group is open to children from all schools. We meet at The Junction between 3:15 (school finish time) until 4:45. Parents/Carers are asked to drop off their children at main Junction doors as we are currently unable to collect the children from school at present. At lighthouse we have soooooo much fun! Our sessions include a craft, games, a snack (prepared in a COVID safe way) as well as a short reflection. This term we are looking at trusting God as we are learning about people from the Bible who had to trust God during really difficult times.

Illuminate is our after school club for those I years 4 & 5 and is open to children from all schools. We meet at The Junction between 3:15 (school finish time) until 5pm. Parents/Carers are asked to drop off their children at main Junction doors as we are currently unable to collect the children from school at present. At illuminate we love to grow deeper in our relationships with each other and God. We start with a bit of free time where there are a choice of activities, football is a firm favourite, along with crafts, card games and giant jenga! We then gather together for a snack (prepared in a COVID safe way) before we go deeper into the Bible, and this term we are looking at the core values of what it means to be a Christian and what it means to put God at the centre of our lives!

On a Sunday we host a kid’s service that runs alongside our outdoor service. The service starts at 10:30 but our doors open at 10:15. Sign up in advance is necessary for track and trace and room capacity purposes; to sign up visit or alternatively see the weekly email sent out on a Monday with all the sign up links for the following Sunday. Arrive at the main gate for the outdoor service where you will be checked in and a steward will direct you to the kid’s service. The service is for children in reception to year 5. We play games, do crafts, worship, pray and learn from the Bible. At the moment we all learning all about the Holy Spirit and how it is alive with us today and about the gifts and fruit that we can get from it – we cannot wait to see you!

In addition to the kids service we are pleased to offer a self-service crèche facility in the children’s room. This is for all children and their parents who are not yet at school (0-4), there are a number of toys and craft activities available and the outdoor service is live streamed so you as a parent/carer don’t miss out. This provision is entirely optional so feel free to remain outside if you wish

Kids of All Ages

At Christ Church we believe that everyone, no matter how old or young can know God’s love; His love is not limited by if we can walk and talk, or read or write – it’s far bigger than that! We want children to experience church as a place of fun, laughter and love, and to walk with them as they journey with and discover Jesus.

Christ Church Kids runs groups during our 10:30am and Church @ 12 Sunday services. Our 10:30am groups are:

You can safely leave those aged 0-2 in Pebbles. There are songs, craft activities, story time, snacks and plenty of toys. Sign into the group by the Pebbles room where we encourage you to leave your children with us and enjoy adult church. You’ll receive a number which if you’re needed by your child at all during the service, will pop up on the screen for you to let you know.

Scramblers (ages 3-5 or Nursery-Reception)

Climbers (school years 1-2)

Explorers (school years 3-5)

In our age appropriate groups, this term we are looking at a BIG Life with Jesus. We want children to lead BIG expansive lives, grow up to be BIG people that lead and influence in every area of their BIG lives. Believing in a BIG God and making a BIG difference!

Before church starts, sign in your kids at the registration table- lookout for the leaders in our red ‘Christ Church Kids’ team t-shirts. We then worship together as a church family in the service before heading off to our own groups.

Church @ 12

Christ Church Kids @ 12 runs during our Church @ 12 service. We love to play LOTS of games together, do crafts and have a chat about God. We worship together as a church family in the service before following our kids leaders into our group.
