Anchor Groups

If you have a desire to go deeper with God alongside others and gain stronger foundations for your faith, or to explore faith for the very first time, do consider joining an Anchor Group.  We live in strange times and we all need an anchor for our souls, something to hold us steady as we face all that life throws at us.  Only Jesus, who has known us and loved us our entire lives, can truly provide that anchor, but so often we find ourselves looking elsewhere for answers, security and hope, and we come up empty-handed.

We usually start a new fortnightly group every September, which is focussed on people who want to know more about the Christian faith.  Absolutely no Bible knowledge is required for this and you won’t be asked to pray, read out loud, or answer tricky questions!

If you already consider yourself a Christian and have some familiarity with the Bible, we would love to find a place for you in an existing group. We have nine groups (formerly known as ‘Daytime Discovery’) which meet fortnightly, now in the evening as well as daytime.  There are between one and three groups meeting every weekday, so it should be possible to find a day and a time which works for you.  They are friendly and non-threatening and you’ll be able to open up as much or as little as you wish.   It’s a wonderful opportunity to study the Bible, draw closer to Jesus and work out together what the Word of God is saying for our lives today.

If you’d like to know more, just get in touch with me, Eileen Gardner, via the church office, and I’ll be happy to chat things through with you on a preliminary basis without you needing to commit.

So we who have found safety with him [Jesus] are greatly encouraged to hold firmly to the hope placed before us. We have this hope as an anchor for our lives. It is safe and sure. Hebrews 6:18-19 (The Good News Bible)
